It was very intense, even on the medium difficulty! I enjoyed the twist on the Plants vs. Zombie formula. I didn't read the full description before starting, so figuring out how different attacks work was somewhat difficult, but when I grasped basic understanding, some strategies started to emerge, which was great. I would say that it wasn't always clear which line am I currently on, and the mouse movement would have worked better if it were discrete instead of continuous. The game also looked and sounded very silly but in a funny way!
P.S.: C# Unity Game Development course anybody? ;)
Damn, this game got me exited! Zoe is a really scary enemy, who keeps the attention and makes me anxious. The good news is that this is not a simple Zombies vs. Plants clone. There are descriptions of upcoming enemy attacks, cool art, beautifully ghoulish cat sounds, as well as adorable sound design.
Amazing Concept. It gave me a feel of Plants VS Zombies but in a very different manner. You guys should work on completing the story and launching the game on a platform. Good job.
Pretty fun premise! I beat it on second try. On the long run I generally went more with the first 3 toys to play more defensively making walls. Just as an idea it would be interesting to see if there were attacks you could only block with certain items, to encourage the player to use more varied resources.
It was funny to see pretty simple cat actions like a lick or a fluff ball being attacks, but they probably are for the little mouse!
I'm glad you enjoyed the game! We implemented a resistance/weakness system so that certain toy spells were better for certain cat attacks. However, balancing the system as well as providing feedback to players in the given time frame of a game jam was a bit of a nightmare xD But yes, some toys (the first 2-3) are more favorable to use than others. (I personally like using the illusory kitten because the idea of throwing a smaller cat to tire out the bigger cat amused me lol).
And yes, while licks and furballs aren't too bad for us humans, they're very menacing to our teeny mouse sorcerer. ^^''
