Did you use any existing assets? If so, list them below.
Yes, a significant number of graphics and sound assets. From: Kenney (Kenney.nl), for his countless free assets, including sprites, sounds and fonts used all over this game! Itch.io for making all this possible, including sharing a large asset library. Thank you to Robert Brooks aka gamedeveloperstudio for a number of beautiful sprites, including the aircraft; and to Vnitti for the pretty parallax background images. Nicolae (Xelu) Berbece of "Those Awesome Guys" for some really professional keyboard and mouse images. OpenGameArt for sharing a wealth of freely available resources. Thank you to Vasiliy Edomin for making and sharing the beautiful yellow helicopter that is this game's main character. Unity Technologies, who puts out a lot of free assets in addition to the free (with conditions) and still awesome game engine! Sonniss Professional Sound Libraries compiles a huge bundle of freely usable sound samples for GDC where many different sound studios provide quality content. Thank you to them and to SoundMorph, GameMaster Audio, Shapeforms Audio and BluezoneCorp for sharing quality audio files. Gregor Quendel's nice music clips provide the music for the game ("Cinematic Trailer Music - Collection" at Unity Asset Store). FreeSound for being a great resource for sound effects. Thank you to Kyles and Antumdeluge. Filmcow for providing a big library of recorded and processed sounds of really good quality. Pixabay, mostly known for their large collection of freely downloadable photographs, for also having a sizable sound library. Thank you for a number of explosion sounds (no username was available).

The game is nostalgic. As a child, I played a lot of these games.

Good game. Thank you!

Thank you for the kind words! My childhood was filled with games like these :)

Loved the sound effects. Great submission, reminds me of old arcade games.

Developer

I really appreciate your kind words! The sounds are mostly from the Sonniss GDC packs, freely downloadable.

Fun hectic game! Yeah for me the limit of half the screen was a bit annoying, but managed to play a lot still and enjoyed it! Also enemy bullets shouldn't be destroyed once you kill the enemy, obviously easier for the player, but I didn't like that :D

But I liked the update and the ammo/etc, falling from the sky and the game seemed pretty good for one weeks work! :)

Thank you for the kind words!

Yeah the killed enemies’ bullets being destroyed is a bug I tried to eradicate several times with little luck :-P

Aah that makes sense, I thought that it was a weird game mechanic :D

I suspect it may be a collision between the bullet and the explosion collider. I’ll look at that when I have the energy :)

257100 high score! Woop! Very juicy, very fun, and gets quite hectic after a while. I felt like maybe there was something a little off about the gatling gun firing (is it possiblet it was somehow childed to the player for too long or something?) as the bullets didn't necessarily behave as I would expect. I also really wanted to be able to go over half the screen so I could bomb incoming ground forces instead of having to wait for them to shoot at me :D But really quite polished and nice for a jam game! You probably could have found some less pixelated background art, as the pixels didn't fit at all with the rest of the art, but overall nothing to complain about!

Hey. Thank you for the very kind words and good feedback. And man that’s a good score! I agree with your comments. For the lack of forward motion I was limited by the size of the background image - the problem of not being an artist myself. You’re right there is something funky about bullet trajectory when you move fast - I’ll have to look at that later.

The game is not bad but the controller bugs me and sometimes the vehicle gets caught in the air without moving.

Thank you for your feedback. It’s keyboard & mouse controls only.
