Welcome to GDKO 2023

Round 5

Game Dev Knock Out (GDKO) is an elimination tournament for game developers of all skillsets. It's played out over 5 rounds between January and May with the game developers with the lowest scores being eliminated each round until only 5 developers remain to take part in the final of the competition.

You have officially made it to the semi final. This is the last round before we whittle the competition down to just the final 5 devs. 4 Devs will qualify for the final and 1 wildcard will be picked by our GDKO judges. Those 5 will then fight it out in the final of GDKO for the glory winning GDKO 2023.

Congratulations to round 4 winner Loten and also to round 4 runner up Simoncb both have automatically progressed to the next round. 

Also well done to Game Favourites for slipping through by the narrowest of margins, doing enough to sway guest judge Wannibe Manisha and earning the round 4 wildcard.

TASK 5 

TASK: Task 5 will force you to get creative. I want you to create a sports game, but not just any old sports game, you need to invent a new sport and turn it into a game. You need to think about the rules of the game and how you'll implement them, how will you teach others how to play your game and will your new game be fun to play? QUALIFICATION: The final can only hold 5 devs. The top 4 will automatically progress and 5th and below will at the hands of the GDKO judges and the wildcard pick.

How original was the new sport? - Was the game fun to play? - How good were the core mechanics of the game? - Did you feel the game was fair? - How quickly did you understand the rules?

FAQ

Can I build on my round 1, 2, 3 or 4 entry? Yes, if you can add a sporting element into the game.

Can I start a new project? Yes you can. 

Can I try and hack the round 6 itch.io page? No.
