How does your game fit the theme?
The protagonist wields great power! As you take damage, instead of dying, you become more powerful. Your attacks also become unwieldy. As you lose control, it's difficult not to hit the trees you are trying to protect!

Neat concept; tying the character's power to their remaining lives makes the gameplay feel desperate as you reach closer to Game Over while simultaneously acquiring more strength. Unfortunately, the game balance currently makes the earlier lives feel frustrating to play, as the character's movement and attack speed is very slow, the fire is very hard to hit, and in general the player will inevitably become overwhelmed by enemies. It also feels like all states are a no-win scenario for the player: the weakest state is far too slow and incapable of handling the horde of fire elementals (and is also the least fun to play), but the stronger spells cause collateral damage to the trees from the ice shrapnel (usually offscreen) that makes attacking the fire elementals seem like a bad idea (even though it's necessary to stave them off).

With some better balancing and stronger visual/audio feedback, I think the idea could be an interesting one!

Thanks for the feedback, and for playing! If we update the game, those are definitely areas of balance that we'll try to refine.

Cool idea. Ditto on the player feedback, also a faster fire-rate on the weapon would feel better. Still great work!

(Also rate the game my team worked on if you can :)

Thanks for the feedback! I haven't quite filled my quota of 25 ratings, but when I have, I'd be happy to check out your team's game.

I feel like there should be more player feedback, like sound effects or flashes. Loads of these jam games lack it for some reason. Unfortunately this game doesn't play as well as it looks. (sorry if that sounds harsh haha)

Thank you for the feedback! Sound is definitely something we wanted to add, but we didn't have time to find or create appropriate sounds. I think you're right, a visual effect, especially when enemies and the trees are hit, would have definitely improved the game's overall feel.

Personally speaking, as the game's programmer, I think it's easy to underestimate the importance of those details when you're trying to add all of your desired features under a deadline.

The artist of our team actually had some visual effect assets prepared that I was unfortunately unable to implement in time! Don't want to let that happen again!

I feel like i should reccomend this free software for making sound effects: BFXR. And I'm starting to get into composition with an easy music program called Bosca Ceoil. Get both of those and I assure you that this stuff will be more easy for you because you don't have to find the effects
