If I have fallen in the big hole at the top, did I beat it? If so, I sadly don't see the connection with the theme.

The big hole is where the boxes go :) You must deliver 3 boxes there, but you will be heavier when holding a box. The connection to the theme is that every time you have to drop a box it rolls, and if settles, will modify its behavior and hopefully the gameplay. The issue is that I think currently the game is very frustrating because the modifications aren't meaningful.
