Wildcards Used
Cozy - Splash Screen & Overworked

Game Description
A cozy game in which you have to manage and upgrade a small café by baking and cooking for your customers. But you have to remember to rest regularly!

How does your game tie into the theme?
The atmosphere/lighting is chill and cozy and you basically cannot really loose, so fairly low-key. Also, it has a Splash Screen and the workers get exhausted and have to rest.

I think this game has a lot of potential. It's a simple, straightforward management sim. However, right now, like John Ivess said, it's too slow paced.  I think solving this could be as simple as lowering the time to prepare food and reducing the cost of upgrades, although then you may also have to change some other stats to keep it from being too easy.

I think the ui would be better if clicking on one object and showing it's action button hides any other action buttons currently on screen (for example, if you click on the stove, then click on the break room, the bake button hides itself, so that all you see is the rest button).

This is a very small note, but I once saw a bug where two people were sitting in the same chair :)

Overall, good work! It just needs some tweaking.

Thanks a lot for your feedback! The pacing was my biggest worry when calling it "done" for the jam, but with a bit of testing it should be possible to adjust :D And the two people sitting in one chair... I actually tried to fix that issue, but I could only make it worse, so I decided to leave as is for now, but it is well noted ;)

Nice artwork. Did you make it yourself?

Developer

Thank you! Some of the assets are selfmade, some are not, I gave credit where it's due in the "about" section :D

Nice game! I could enjoy it.

Here is some feedback, though:

  • The pace is TOO SLOW. Like, TOO MUCH. I enjoyed the game, but it feels like you artificially prolonged the playing time. I am speaking of cash accumulation. After you spent the initial funds, making money takes unbelievably long.
  • Baking cakes IRL sure takes some time, sure, but in the game, it's still too long to bake them
  • I think it would be better if the coziness level affected tips' amount

These are some notes I made regarding the gameplay. You have good potential with this game! Well done, especially for the first jam!

Developer

Balancing the pace was pretty difficult, like what is too slow / what is too fast. So I appreciate your feedback on that matter. I also like the idea of coziness influencing tips :D

Absolutely, that would do a long way toward making the coziness level meaningful!
