Game Description
Dennis Saves The World is a ps1 style Spyro inspired game about my new puppy Dennis.

How does your game tie into the theme?
The world is Fragile and falling apart so Dennis is sent on a quest to save it. Theres also a health bar that is invisible. For the main menu i tried to make an interactive Dennis simlar to the one in Mario 64.

Glad I looked here about how to get into the game (TAB key), I thought it was going to stop at the menu.

I think you've hit the PS1 aesthetic really well. Are the shadows done with vertex lighting?! Crazy, didn't know PS1 had that. :)

My first play I fell, and accidentally quit the game. The second time I went to the void but then couldn't get into a menu or anything. So each time I had to go through the cutscenes (which are great, but people usually only want to watch them once :)).

Nice work on your second submission, I enjoyed just running around the town and collecting treats!

Thanks for the feedback. The void level wasn't implemented so the portal wont do anything. hopefully gonna work on it a bit more. The idea with the intro was to only show it the player on new game but because i didn't get round to the  save system it was a new game every time.

Also yeah I used vertex colours. The ps1 didn't have shadows so in game like Spyro and crash bandicoot they used vertex colours to darken areas and bake lighting. Most enemy's were done purely in vertex colours, no textures.   Also found they did the same for lighting which is how i did Dennis's shadow.  Just used an inverted light. You can really see this in games like silent hill that used a torch.

Nice, reminds me of the ps1 rugrats game, definetly something worth expanding on, it's strange that TAB is the start key, and i had to restart the game on 2 portals, well what would i expect if i entered a portal named void, it seemed empty, and the grass in front of denis at the beginning of the level also seemed to have no purpose yet, i like the crt shader, but i think it darkens the games too much, unless you wanted to give spooky and uncanny vibes with it

Thanks for the feedback!

Gonna have to go through the pc controlls again. Didn't put much thought into them cos I was mainly thinking about the controller controlls to be like the original ps1 controlls (actually tested it with an original ps1 controller. )

Also I will have to change the crt affect so it's less dark. Didn't get time to put some of the levels in so some of the portals are broken.

Void was ment to be where the last gem is and the whole place has completely fallen apart and the ground and walls are missing. Thinking like that episode of spungebob with the time machine and squidward falls out of reality

Pretty fun ideia, I realy like the PS1 style and to be inside Dennis's dreams

But, I don't know if is a Linux issue, but to start the game I have to use a dual shock controller, I can't start the game with the keyboard.

So, I guided Dennis to the town and got lost, there are some glitchs and when I got to a point, after the platforms, there is nothing more to do.
