Nice game and nice art, but there seems to be a big bug. Sometimes, if you kill the defending guardian, the battle doesn't end and the timer keeps counting down, so the human does not get possessed, you control no guardians, and earn no fragments. The power up message does popup though.

Developer

Hi Mike!

Thank you very much for the feedback. I don't really want to update the game during the jam to keep the fair-play. Anyway I'm gonna do some tests and report this bug in my page.

If I found out it is a serious bug and happens several times, I'm gonna take some measures.

Sorry for the bug!

Developer

After some little tests I maneged to understand the bug.
Basically there is a counter which sometimes is not updating and restarting from 0. I really didn't know why since it is in the code from my submission and it should work just fine (no reason to not working).
I tried to delete and rewrite the code just as it was before and now everything is fine. I'll write this in the main page.

Developer

I wrote a temporary bug fix on my page so you will still be able to save your progress.
As so as you notice this bug, ALT-f4 or Force close the game. The game will reload the progress you made just before the last fight.

Nice rogue-lite! Really liked the art of the characters. I wish I had a visual about how many souls I've collected. Music also remembers me slightly to Binding of Isaac, hehe. Good job!

Hello! Thank you for the kind comments.

Yeah, I can't deny some music inspirations come from TBOI's musics. Anyway I tried to take a risk on adding slight 80's / cyber-punk taste in all musics, which is a genre I really like and I think it could turn out good with a better design. I'm not an artist, so I struggled A LOT doing my sprites!

Maybe I didn't mention a lot during the game, but as you can see in the page of the game or in the Main Title -> Controls, I mapped the "TAB" key to get some visuals of your progress and stats.  Everything you need is there... then, if there is any problem and the tab won't show up, let me now!

Liked the artwork! The main character looks fantastic.

I was a bit lost as to what I was actually supposed to do. Killed a few creeps, waited out the battle timer, got a power up. Is there more to it? How do I "control my enemies"?

Developer

First of all, thank you for playing

Since I did not complete that mechanics, I "hid" it in the code, but basically my idea was to be able to assign to each Guardian a role during the battle. I will complete it and implement it after the jam.

Right now the game is just a little roguelite, some basis of the story and some power ups to achieve. I know it can make you feel lost, but everything the guide tells you at the beginning is basically what you can do for now! But I got some big plans in the future.

Thank you for your feedback!
