Quick and Effective , Nice !

Very neat! Found footage style horror is neat and it works very well with the spooky underwater environment of this game. I got confused and actually managed to fall into a crevasse the first time I played, forcing a restart, but figured it out after that. I enjoyed it a lot! Thanks!

I encounted the monster, and then the game title was on the screen and kicked out on the main screen. I don't know if I failed or if it was the end of the game.

This is a really nice experience! It's a fun, dingy, atmospheric undersea horror game. The addition of a little bit of plot with the sound effects was a nice touch, and the monsters were presented sparingly enough (at first!) to really build up a sense of dread.

The 'found footage' premise is great and the addition of a footage UI really adds to things. I like how it was also factored in at the end. I think the mysterious nature of the found footage style kept things open and uncertain enough to set the tone pretty damn well.

The environments: dark, claustrophobic, industrial rigs, are pretty good. There's some nice low-poly modelling here. It would have been cool to have a few more identifiable decor in the environment, but the structures are done super well and great to explore.

Some constructive feedback:

  • Fail states without respawns or continue mechanics can really deter exploration or perseverance. I guess that's part of the challenge of horror survival games, but definitely consider giving a player more alternatives than a return to main menu, especially if it's not clear why they failed.
  • This is kinda an aesthetic choice - the filters are great, but the graininess of the filter paired with the texture made it sort of hard to discern where I was going in the underground section of the game, which is a bit tough given the time-sensitive escape that the player has to pull off.

I did a playthrough below:

From the look of your page, this is your first adventure game - you've done a great job!

Thanks for submitting this to the jam!
