Solid opening cutscene -- it establishes your characters from the start. I don't love autoscrolled text because reading speeds are different for everyone, and if I happen to look away for a moment, it's too easy to miss important dialogue.

Cute baby sprite -- but when you zoom in on it, it is VERY pixelated, like it was a much larger image that was just scaled down to be tiny. You'll definitely want to go in and clean that up a little bit so it's crisp and clean.

Unfortunately, when I was heading north to look for my brother, I stopped at a little town along the path and it told me I didn't have time to go there... And then I got stuck and couldn't progress / move / do anything. :(

Seems like you have a good idea of what you want this game to be, and it just needs a little more time and testing to get to that place. I hope you'll keep working on it post-IGMC! :)

Yea I could change it to not autoscroll.

Thanks, I'm not good at drawing so it's the best I could do. :/

Aww it stopped you in one of the cities? It shouldn't :/ I need to repair it after IGMC.

I have base idea what game need to be about but I started a little late for IGMC and didn't have time to make everything as I wanted.

Thanks for comment :)

Tried this out, got killed by slimes while wandering around because the game forgot to tell me what I was meant to be doing. Left it there. Overall not a very good game as it is right now, to my taste.

  • Needs a cleanup on the text.
  • Why are the textboxes automatic instead of letting me just click through them normally? Nothing that is happening is that action packed that they can't wait for me.
  • The narrator having a face is very distracting.
  • Once the "intro" ends and the parents leave, there is no guidance on what to do.
  • I honestly hope that the slimes (5 at a time, and the red one alone took 4 turns to die) are a bad joke. Because otherwise I have no idea what the point was.
  • The concept of seeing the protagonist grow up is neat, but the execution is a bit poor; the sprite for the child phase was especially bad. There ARE child sprites, you know, in the rtp, even. I would have preferred a simple child sprite with green hair over the pixelated shrinked adult sprite.

Sorry if this sounds too harsh but games that don't even tell me what they want from me get up my nose. Once I was let loose and wandered outside without a clue it jsut dumped an impossible fight on me. I had no reason to want to keep playing.

This is of course just MY take and my personal opinion isn't universal or anything. It just didn't work for me.

Thanks for comment, game tells you that you should go to mages castle couse your brother went there.

In the intro parents told you that your brother is in mages castle and after intro you have letter that they went to look for him.

Textboxes are automatic in intro to be sure that you'll read it and know what to do next.

Yea narrator face could be confusing but it's there for specific reason later in the game.

I didn't want to use sprites from web for this game and I can't really draw so thats why sprites are ugly.

Yea slimes are just obstacle, you dont really need to fight with them to complete the game.(You can use them to earn some money for potions)

It's a good start and the initial cutscenes are done well (I liked the gradual growth of the protagonist). I don't know how familiar you were with the tool, I hope it was a good experience. :)

Thanks for comment. I've used rpg maker long time ago, mostly I make games in Unity so it was a little hard at first but most of things are pretty simple. Sometimes it's nice to come back to the tools that have not been used for a long time so experience was good. :)

Be careful! When your mom calls you for dinner you can go out of the house and never going inside of it again! For the rest, is a nice idea, keep up the great work!

Thank you for your comment, I was testing it but didn't see when you can go out, it's to late to repair it now but I'll fix it after igmc :)
