I was one of the official judges this year, and now that the results have been made public, and I'm free to do so, here is my score and thoughts on this title:

Overall score: 8

I felt this game was put together well, and had some great art assets. I also felt it was a little flat in the game loop in that it was almost entirely random with little that the player could do to affect the game world other than bad choices.

Definitely feels a bit too RNG focused. Some grammar issues and at least one minor bug was found when I played.

It feels like the game really forces you to almost always raise because the pros and cons of raising outweigh the pros and cons of erasing. Some balancing would be nice and perhaps some more definite information on certain penalties since some of it is very much vague.

Definitely a lot of the same events reoccur, so you want to add some variety.

I assume this game is intended to be a mobile game eventually, so good luck with that.

I got this game to play in round 2 of judging. First, congrats on getting to round 2! Here are my thoughts on the game as I play it.

This was a neat game with a neat premise. Playthroughs are super short which is nice too, allows for some experimenting. I do feel though the RNG is a little unforgiving and you can easily get into a death spiral if you get too many of those damage to the forest events in a row. I did also find myself wishing for more definites on things like instead of bad events more likely to occur, how much more likely to occur? Granted that is also probably the fact that I deal with numbers a lot in my job so I like to see definite numbers, but adding something on that for player feedback could be worth considering.

I do think this though has potential and would like to see it expanded more and polished up someday!

Dear bgillisp,

Thank you so much for your judgement, I am honored to have my game reviewed by you.

Yes, I did many mistakes on making this game, but I am working hard to fix them while working on other game jams for improving my programming and game making skills.

I’ll keep your feedback in mind and I hope you liked the game and playing the next version when it will be released!

Thank you again and have a good day!

This definitely has potential! I love the minimalism in the graphics and the aesthetics.I'd love to see this kind of game a little more polished!

I really like the concept and think you put a lot of effort into creating an interesting interface for your game to function inside of. Great work with the art as well! As others have mentioned, I'm not a huge fan of how much RNG is involved in completing a cycle and hoped for a little less repetition in the different events, but that could be something you can work on post-jam. I heavily commend you for completing a game in a language other than the one you speak regularly, especially on a time crunch, but be careful that you do find a native English speaker to do some work with the translations before dropping the final version, if you plan to keep it in English! Overall, nice work with your entry. :)

Streamed this yesterday with the dev present, but leaving this here for posterity:

  • +Cute but very simplistic visuals that get the job done.
  • +Suggestion: highlight in color the vital aspects of the text, as it gets very repetitive: the result of an event, if humans are pure/impure, etc.
  • +I just realized, the title is very clever XD
  • +The structure isn’t a bad idea of purging or reviving with a small randomized events by day. It’s a good core to expand and polish on.
  • -The text in general is rough and needs a second cleanup draft.
  • -There are way too few events.
  • -The RNG is really crappy. It can get really nasty and put you ina  doom spiral you can’t leave.
  • -The fact that erasing or raising even the "wrong " souls has an effect on the RNG is not properly conveyed.
  • -The text beeping SFX did get a bit annoying.
  • -It’s too easy to lose and too easy to win. Erasing at all enters a doom spiral, even if you stick only to reviving pure souls. Likewise, just by raising mindlessly you will win. IT doesn’t feel like there’s a good balance or decision-making.

I’d say a good proof of concept, but the execution needs work.

A little too much RNG for my tastes, but I do really like the idea. I was pleasantly surprised by the resolution when I opened this game - and it really suits what you're going for. I feel like I'm holding an interactive card that keeps changing as I make these karma-based decisions. Your design is neat, and I appreciated the nice sound design which is something I'm always happy to see (or hear!) in games :)

Would love to see in the future if I can make other decisions in the game just to branch out those paths a little bit more and give us some more variation. I hope you continue making either this or future projects. ^^

So this game is pretty short. The events cover different ways of different outcomes happening. It does rely on chance though and there is a lack of different scenarios that would spice up the gameplay more.

I think this idea is really really cool: the ability to choose erase or raise with the karma secretly acting based on what you've done each day... it's brilliant! I was hoping there were more events to diversify the days but that's okay for a project made for the jam.

I hope you will expand and improve it by making it less random and more strategic. Great work!

The art and design was different, which I liked. The music and sound effects were nice.

A really original and interesting idea! I liked the minimalistic art style and the simple gameplay concept. I think you should add some depth to the gameplay, since right now it's probably too much RNG-driven. With some enhancements, this can become a very fun game! Good job! 👍

Thank you so much! I will work on it and I have some ideas! :)

It's a really clever concept! A resource-based game choice based, with an unique screen disposition! XD
I really like the art style, it suits the game perfectly!

Still, I think the game needs more events to give the player more ways and choices to play it. If you want to expand the game I would surely love it!

I liked this game a lot! It was extremely simple but very fun. Well done!

A lot of games don't have to be overly elaborate or overly flashy affairs in order to have a good time with them--just an objective and a sufficient amount of chaos will suffice. To that extent, the only real wish I'd have is that there'd just be more content: more good events, more bad events, a little bit more variables determining what happens, and etc.

Thank you very much for your hard work!

Thank you so much for playing and appreciated it! I hope to make a better version after this jam if you want to retry it in the future! ☺️

I love the vector art-style graphics, and the simple design.  Great concept too. I think I got both endings.

Also, just a funny coincidence, but I love how the intro starts similarly to my entry.

Developer(+1)

I saw it! Maybe both games are in the same universe! ☺️ I liked how your game was done, the openness, the not so punishing retry again with an another vessel and so on. I found however a non cohesive enough art style, that should really be fixed in the future!

Very interesting game with an original design that recalls retro games.

Thank you!
