How is your game related to the Theme and Special Object?
[Theme] You are playing as the final boss of a shoot em up style game. [Special Object] (1) Swan Song is a metaphorical phrase for final gesture/effort/performance. You are playing as a final boss' last ditch effort to repel your opponents. (2) This game's story is based loosely on "The Ugly Duckling". In the story, a cygnet was hated upon and abandoned by its duckling peers because it is not a duck. However, it eventually evolves into a beautiful swan. (3) The player's sprite is design based on a swan. The surrounding background is drawn in a way where it looks like a swan is in a middle of a pond. (4) As part of the story, the player's ship was left unnamed since it was abandoned by its creator, which was eventually labelled as "ship without a name", and can be abbreviated as SWAN. (5) Music used is "Swan Lake"

Love the art style and music. Has a cool retro vibe to it, very nostalgic! Nice work :)

Developer

Thanks!

The music was really good, and the art reminded me of megaman or something so overall I'm very impressed

Developer

Thank you! The musician (Chips 'N Cellos) for the music I've used is amazing at doing Megaman style music mashups! If you are already a fan of Megaman please check them out!

Wow... just wow. In my mind, game-jam games are meant to have a certain lack of polish. Under the deadline of a few days, participants, being developers themselves, are willing to overlook a little bit of jank. It seems you were unwilling to make such concessions. Everything- the sound, the visuals, the gameplay, the lore...

Wow. Thank you for sharing your game.

Really heartwarming to read your comments, it means alot to me. Thank you!

Fantastic visuals and theme implementation! Gameplay got pretty repetitive, but I enjoyed the upgrades and the idle system. Some suggestions I would have for improving this would be to increase the number of options to choose from in the upgrade menu and automate/improve the player's ability to pick up scrap,  as I found it to be more of a nuisance than anything later on into the game.  Great work!

Developer

Those are some really good ideas, thank you for the suggestion!

Are you proud of me, professor?

I'm just trying really hard to die at this point 😭

Edit: Nailed it

Professor would definitely be proud

Developer

What how?! This is insane, the threat level assessment is capped at 800 for god. How long did it take for you to do this lol?

Jam Host(+1)

Probably like 1 and a half to 2 hours. Most of the time was spent buying no damage and heal though, cause I had fully upgraded defense and bullets early on.

I hit 7K kills with 90% percent health.

Now am I become death, the destroyer of worlds.

Genuinely think this game needs an ending, maybe also make the enemy like cry or something when you hit certain milestones.

Developer

Thanks for playing! The intention was to make it so that you'll have to die eventually since you're the final boss and there is no good ending to this, hence "swan song". But that apparently didnt stop you from making the enemies cry and the professor proud lmao.
I'll see if I can cook up some sort of ending scene or something, and maybe rebalance the game a bit.

This game makes me feel incompetent and I love it

Developer

No way dude. I've played your entry and it is great fun! Its how I feel with all other entries that isn't mine all the time as well.
