Village Witch is a wonderful way to get creative and write every day. The prompts are guiding but not so specific to strangle creativity. This is a game that can be played over and over again with a vivid imagination. The ability to use either a standard deck or tarot deck is brilliant and wonderful. I also thoroughly enjoy the accessibility of this game. I am a screen reader user and the fact there is a plain text version is so wonderful. I'm able to simply read, understand and then play with no barriers.
I'm currently writing through my first playthrough of this game in Docs and using Mastodon to post my journal entries as a way to write something each and every day. I'm using my tarot deck to draw the cards and so far I am absolutely adoring it. This is the perfect cozy little game that is extremely simple. No massive amount of rules to bog you down, just a single die and a deck is all you need. This would be wonderful for taking on the go or just pulling out at lunch for a quick entry. I could even see myself making sound journal recordings. I'm currently writing it as though people are reading them and have invited people to write my witch and perhaps get a letter back.
If you don't want a game to hold your hand but give you enough to keep up a daily writing practice, this is a wonderful game to have in your toolkit. I keep it on my phone to refer to when I want to think about the next bit of writing.
Thank you for such a great little game.
I really enjoyed my time with this game and I actually completed it this morning in one go before a stressful day at work. I found the activity of the game really calming, like it was a way to empty my mind out and it was interesting to see how my current feelings/mood made it into my story. I bet on a different day with a different mood I would create a completely different story. The prompts were open so that you can explore your thoughts and ideas in this way.
