This was such a interesting concept! The core mechanic is really creative and I can imagine a lot of interesting scenarios with this one! Plus it matches the theme really well, so nice job! The art is really clean and pleasant to look at! I really love the look of both the main character and the enemies (the enemies are especially well animated)! I also found the music to be catchy and nice to listen to in the background! I wish there were sound effects for a lot of the different actions in the game, it would have added a lot to the experience (the SFX when moving between buttons in the main menu are a good example of this and make the simple concept of just navigating a main menu screen satisfying). I like the movement and the general loop of the game, but with enemy placements, dealing with arrows and the mice(?) looking enemies sometimes were stressful. I got cornered and trapped in a lot of situations by those hazards to the point where it was just luck that got me killed due to arrow direction, the time when the arrows spawns, and just my position at the time.

Overall, I really like this idea and the game was also very fun! I feel like with a few fixes here and there, plus expansion and exploration with the concept (if you choose to continue with it), it could be so amazing! I had fun with this one and hope you had some fun with the jam too! Great work guys!

Thanks :D

(Sorry if there are any errors, as I am using the translator)

My friends and I had a lot of fun doing it, we know that arrows sometimes kill unfairly, we wanted to fix a lot of things, but we were trying to run out of time as we caught a tight deadline, but thanks for playing and enjoying our game, it was done with much love

About "the mice (?)", It's a creature beyond our own understanding that we created that lol

Amazing Idea! This is a really interesting take which could be turned into a fully fledged game.

The gameplay itself feels unfair however. Sometimes there is no way to avoid the arrows, and you're forced to die to them. Other times you die to a spike and have to walk all the way to the thing you need to avoid to die to it. It gets tedious after a while. More variety in what you can die to to beat the level would be a great addition and make the game much more fun, as well as making death more fair, with arrows being more avoidable. Giving the enemies visual and audio queues when they fire would definitely also help.

The art style is great; both the cover art and pixel art are really well done! It feels unique and gives the game character. However, sometimes it was difficult to tell if you were immune to a certain enemy, due to the colour scheme being similar.

The music gets very repetitive very quickly, since its only a 15 second clip looped. I would make the song at least a minute and a half long, so it doesn't become a nuisance and stays engaging. Adding sound effects would also be a bonus. Especially when you reach a checkpoint, die or an enemy attacks.

There was no clear explanation as to how the game mechanics worked, so I had to figure it out on my own. Explaining core mechanics is essential to engaging a player, so they know how to play your game to begin with.

This has a lot of potential! It just needs more polish and playtesting, and it can be a very solid release!!!

Thanks for the feedback!, the gameplay is very rusty indeed and need some improvements :P.

Guys, it turned out as an amazing game, that was made pretty fast. And I'm very grateful that I could make part of it. Congratulations, fellas!

The mechanic was really fun to explore and also fit the theme really well! I also loved the art, the animations were really smooth, and having the cover art drawn makes a really nice touch! The archers were a bit unforgiving but i enjoyed playing! :)

really nice, an interestic mechanic. was fun to play! however I think the switch was a bit inconsistent at some part, and the gameplay got a bit repetitiv after some time. also the archers totally got me xd

Developer

Thanks!:D
We were thinking about ways to make gameplay more interesting besides the switch mechanic, but we didnt come up with something in time for the jam :P

Developer
