Interesting game idea. I like the use of a spotlight to help you see whats underwater. At first I couldn't figure out how to grapple things, but then I read the instructions and was able to once I got near the edge. Those sharks are really hard! I still haven't beaten this yet but I intend to :D

Thanks for the comment!

Just so you know, there's no way to "win" at this game. I ran out of time and never got around to adding a way to beat the game, so you pretty much just go until you die.

hi, I've tried to play your game and personally:

first, I think your art is stunning? or, idk, I just really, really like it. I like the little water animation and the texture, and the logo looks interesting, too.

second, I've been unable to move past the initial stage (jump on the boat).  It might be a Mac thing - my jumps are reaaaally small - I've only manage to push the boat a little and then drown.

Since I haven't really played the game in its entirety, I won't rate it just yet. I'll wait for your reply :)

I'm glad you liked the art! I'm not much of an artist, so I was just trying to give my game a distinct visual style.

Are you able to make it onto the boat at all? I don't have a Mac, so I can't test it myself. Once you get on the boat, you can drive it from the top platform (might be a bit hard to see with the art style) with the A and D keys.

The only thing in the game that should interfere with jumping is that you can't jump from the ends of the boat. I was lazy with the jumping logic, and it was possible to jump out of the screen by jumping right next to a wall. I should have come up with a better solution for this, but I ran out of time.

I'm not able to jump on the boat - I'm only able to make reeeaaally small jumps and fall to the river and drown. I think it might be a Mac thing, though ;)

so I've had similar problems in Speed It Up!, and the author found a solution  https://itch.io/post/685688 that might work for you as well :)

Hey, I took a look at the fix for that game, and unfortunately we're using different methods for jumping.  Speed it Up! appears to be controlling the player manually, while I'm applying a force to the player physics object to jump.  I don't see a way to apply this fix to my game.

Sorry that you can't play my game, and I hope that you've enjoyed the jam.

Unfortunately had the same issue with jumping. I'm pressing up but only doing tiny little jumps and can't make it onto the boat.

Could be issues with frame rate if your jumps are not frame rate independent / you are using a variable time step for physics?

Art was really nice though!
