What happens is the fun and friends you made along the way! :P That's unlucky though. I almost did the same thing, I spent close to an hour (and I was already short on time) on one component of my game until I realized it broke one of the Jam's rules and had to scrap it.
I was using a bunch of commercial assets I had bought in the past, before seeing that only free assets are allowed! As the visual style was integral to my original idea, I had to scrap everything and start again. Oops.
