Welcome to the Medieval Horror Game Jam!

Embark on a journey into the dark, twisted world of medieval horror! In this game jam, your challenge is to create a unique and spine-chilling game that blends the eerie atmosphere of horror with the timeless themes of a medieval setting. Whether you’re exploring cursed castles, escaping dungeons, or battling beasts of the night, the possibilities are endless!

Show off your creativity and skills to win incredible prizes, including custom game assets and models made by the host!

Game Jam Rules:

  1. Theme:

    • Choose from the following themes for your game. Each participant/team must stick to one theme:
      1. The Witch’s Trial
      2. Haunted Keep
      3. Knightmare
      4. Dungeon of the Damned
      5. The Blacksmith’s Curse
      6. Blood Harvest (Werewolves or Vampires)
      7. The Dragon’s Wraith
  2. Time Limit:

    • The jam will run for [25 Days]. All submissions must be made before the deadline.
  3. Team Size:

    • Solo developers and teams are welcome. Teams can consist of up to as many people you can gather. I recommend teams be around 2-5 people because it can be hard to manage bigger teams it is hard enough with just a few. No limitations on team size.
  4. Game Requirements:

    • The game must be medieval-themed and incorporate horror elements.
    • Use of free or original assets is encouraged, but credit any assets not created by your team.
    • Your game must be playable and submitted as a downloadable file or web-based game.
    • AI is welcome and encouraged. Just do it ethnically, but no limitations on AI please use it anywhere in your pipeline.
    • Don't be afraid to collaborate with other teams by sharing resources.
  5. Judging Criteria:

    • Theme Adherence: How well does the game stick to the chosen theme and medieval horror setting?
    • Fun Factor: How enjoyable is the game to play?
    • Replayability: Does the game encourage players to return for more?
    • Story: Is the narrative compelling and creative?
    • Implementation: How polished and functional is the game?
    • UI/UX: Is the user interface intuitive and visually appealing?
    • Atmosphere: How well does the game convey horror through sound, visuals, and tension?
    • Innovation: Are there any unique mechanics or twists that make the game stand out?
  6. Submission Guidelines:

    • Submit your game with a brief description, gameplay instructions, and a list of credits.
    • Ensure your game is free of major bugs or issues that prevent playability.

Prizes:

  • 1st Place:

    • All 2nd and 3rd place prizes.
    • A custom game model or character model made by the host based on your request.
  • 2nd Place:

    • Three game assets made by the host. My choice, but you can make request maybe I might oblige.
  • 3rd Place:

    • Two game assets made by the host. My choice, but you can make request maybe I might oblige.
