Not had a swing at 3D myself so it's hard to gauge, but it's still pretty impressive what you've managed so far. It's still a bit floaty and fiddly (like you have to be very careful on small platforms to not overshoot while climbing them), and it's lacking in feedback but refining that all comes with time.
If I'm right, you only wall slide if you're holding jump. I think it's be a lot more intuitive if you just have to push into it, since I was struggling to slide and would often wall jump by mistake when I let go of jump.
And I had this issue where the lighting made it hard to discern contours, so it was hard to tell the difference between holes and protrusions. At the start of my game I just jumped right into a hole! XD
I guess that's just the placeholder graphics.
Here's my recordings:
Thanks so much for your feedback and play thru! I agree with the wall slide comment, I need more time to figure out the math on that-- it's much more intuitive and probably why it exists in Mario. I made some changes to lighting and added some highlights to help show where to land ledge grabs-- I plan to upload changes after the jam ends.
I was looking forward to trying this game but the lack of an option to turn off full screen made it pretty unconfortable since i have a very wide resolution, also the quit button didn't work for me, forcing me to alt+f4 to close the game.
If you were to add some fullscreen/windowed toggle, let me know and i'll definitely give it another go :)
Thanks for the feedback. I plan to update the game with some quality of life and a bit more content, once voting ends!
Hello,
I enjoyed the time I spent playing this. I find it impressive the size of map you create. I would love to see more 3D Metroidvanias. I propose to use a lighter color palete, or just more light in general, to ease visualization of the environment and allow for better player orientation. I think that way it would be easier to enjoy exploration.
Cheers
