Good learning experience, I presume! Cute! :)
This was fun. I played through the 2nd level and found it pretty challenging. I think you've got a good start here. I imagine it's not simple to get an NPC to navigate a platformer like this. I saw that the kitten would copy my jumps, but there seemed to be a slight delay, which was interesting. Also, when I called it, it was able to hop up levels on its own. Nice job :)
Follow Cat is a game that I feel has more potential. The overall gameplay mechanics is what makes up for everything else. Although, I wish I could say this. I'm unfortunately having to share that this experience starts off quite rather enjoyable. It begins to have a very similar experience of Baby Mario & Yoshi. In fact, that's exactly the experience I felt while playing this. There is far too much frustration in this game.
The various environments were decent. It added a slight interest to progression but never truly felt much different to the previous levels. Once again, I was definitely reminded of Yoshi's Island. The player jumps too high and the little cat that follows you sometimes doesn't work. Due to the player needing to use precise platforming skills while holding the movement for right. It just doesn't allow a smooth experience to be had. It may have challenge but this challenge doesn't come from the Developer's work. It comes from the gameplay mechanic that is flawed.
Overall, I'd recommend trying this at least once. If you get too frustrated, I wouldn't recommend trying again. This was an experience that I started to enjoy and very quickly became bored of. I'm sorry Developer. I really wanted to enjoy this experience but it just needs a lot of ironing out.
Great work! :D
Mechanically interesting platformer. The various environments went a long way to add interest to progress. A little detail and some background music, and you'll have the next Yoshi's Island :D
Because the player jumps so high, you may consider constraining, damping or interpolating camera movement to smooth out the visual experience. Using 'J' and 'K' were a little awkward, and might benefit from being additionally mapped to the left and right mouse buttons.
That said, a good and challenging platformer. Well done, and good luck!
Great idea! And your game fits within the limits of the jam. It is very difficult to cross the hole! > <
nice concept ! But how to make the kitten jump over the holes ?
The kitten will copy your movements. You need to time your jumps so that the kitten will copy you at the right time.
