I also took me a while to realize I could leave the box, however I kind of like that. It made the moment of realization feel special and made the game really memorable. I enjoyed the game a lot, great work.

Developer

I'm glad you liked it! The moment of discovery when you finally get out of the box and feel like you're breaking the rules is something I was really hoping to capture

I also made the mistake of not reading the description, but the game is really nice! It definitely reminds me of Space Invaders, and I do agree w/ TomboFry that screen shaking would be a nice feature. If you made the game in Unity, using Cinemachine, you could add perlin noise to the camera.

Developer

We're all guilty of not reading before playing, it's too tempting with the game at the top of the page

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm using godot, but will definitely be looking into how to add screen shake

I should have read the description because my first playthrough was entirely within the box, whoops! Got a highscore of 16454 once I realised. Nicely polished, needs some screen shake to top it all off 👌

Developer

Oh wow, that's a pretty awesome score!

I didn't even think about screen shake, I'll definitely keep that in mind for future projects. Thank you so much!

Ha! took me a little too long to figure out you can leave the box! I like it, feels well polished and controls pretty nicely! Brownie points for having a linux build 8)

Developer

Thank you!
Couldn't have no Linux build as a Linux dev ;)

Love the audio! Great game, very polished :)

Music and Sound is something I really struggle to get the feel right, I'm so glad you liked it. Thank you!

Good job man, reminds of space invader. It all looks very clean and polished, well done!

I really like how polished this is. Its contained but plays like a finished product of one of those old school arcade games.

I also really appreciate this as your 'How is this related to theme' answer, haha

Developer

Thank you! I haven't done a jam before and didn't realize my answer would be put on the project, I was trying to give the Organizers a laugh thinking they had to read through them all haha
