Ooga BoogaGame is very cool and fun, I think the "unconventional" controls actually benefit the game making it harder!
The "Get a ball in to start" is a very smart decision to let the player understand the core mechanics without pressuring him.
I would consider having more of a time penalty for the player falling into a pit.
