Hi, hi! Kat Reporting for Duty!! XD
This is my first Devlog, and I'll try my Best to Update Every Day!! XD
MAIN GAME IDEA/MAIN FOCUS:
"A Girl enters dreams/the dreams of her classmates and fights/defeats evil/their fears n' doubts/ultimately helps them overcome/push through/gain catharsis." X3
As for Genre: it's an. . .Rpg-ish-typish-thing? the Genre is. . . a little hard to define ;D;'' it Kinda Just is, Lol! XD
and As for Program, I'll be using GameMaker, as from what I Understand this would be easier to do the Real-time Combat in X3
MAIN GOAL FOR JAM:
As this is a VERY BIG Game idea, I'm going to focus on getting a Working Demo done instead of the whole thing X3
Room Goals -
- Main room/home-base room (which is her Bedroom and a small bathroom joined to it; Detailed but not Too crazy, some Fun things to click on/have the Main Character react to, Lol! XD)
- Corridor 1 (Which is Her (the MC's) end of the entryway to the dream (not necessarily made super obvious); Simple corridor, Need to learn how to make mist though, Lol! XD)
- Corridor 2 (Which is the Dreamer's end of the entryway; Slightly Different from the first corridor - more erratic/slightly more unsettling)
- Big Room (Which is when we encounter the 'First' (and kinda Only, in the Demo ;D;'') Enemy/enemy group in the game; Simple as well, as this dream's setting is actually fairly simple. This is to more introduce the ideas of the game/not necessarily distract with Huge Set pieces, Lol (and Yes it'd be easier to make within two weeks, Lol ;D;''''))
Gameplay/General Game Goals -
- Finish the Main Room/Home-Base room Completely - have things to Interact with/learn more about the MC about (Since Story/Character is more my strong suit and this will hopefully be my fist Finished game/I have two weeks, I will probably focus more on this XD)
- Have at least One or Two Instances of Main Gameplay Controls - Entering the Dream, Encountering at least One Enemy/employing Some sort of strategy-like-thing against it (if Time runs short it might just have to be "Hack and Slash" ;D;''), Using Certain Items in certain ways while Fighting
- Set Up Menu - Have the Menu system Up and running (Not going to worry about Saving yet,) but have an Inventory (not too many things, Lol ''XD (like Legit 1 or 2 things XD)), Maybe a 'Goals' section (optional), and a Player Portrait that shifts with the MC's current Mood (there will only be about 2 or 3 variations for now, so I don't need to go crazy yet ''XD XD)
- Have the Art/Music be as Nice-looking/Harmonious as possible - My Experience is Mostly in Art/Animation (aside from Story XD) so I'l try to play up my strengths here >:3 I Admit I have little experience in music, but I will try for some Simple Themes/keep it small X3 *Doesn't Need Huge Trumpets/Orchestras for what she has in mind XD*
I'll Add/Shift/Edit as time goes on/I have more straightened out! XD *Hopes to add a character Bio n' other such things as they become More Complete XD*
Day 1: Saturday - Think through Game Idea, Write Work Outline
I spent Most of today (at work ;D;'') Writing down my main idea/solidifying What it is exactly I want to do/List Everything that needs doing.
I've made a Trello board to help keep organized
Day 2: Sunday - Rest ;D;''
(Sundays for a while have been a day where I just Don't Do Anything/Relax, and I feel it's best to keep it up even during the Jam X3 So Sundays I will continue to just Relax/Play around with the ideas in my head XD)
Day 3: Monday - Goals: ' Get a Block Moving/Not Phase Through Walls ;D;'' ' (Get some Temp-art in there, get down the Player Movement Controls and, as said, make sure it doesn't go through walls!! XD (Also probably establish Size of game, while I'm at it, Lol ;D; XD))
