[RELEASED] Gravity Knight

Hello Jammers,

Me and my girlfriend are trying to submit our first jam.  We really liked to theme and we named our game Gravity Knight.

The core mechanic is to change the gravity of the player.

We have the prototype gameplay finish and some placeholder animation and art but we will replace this the next days.

Added particles and a simple menu

Following features have been added to our game:

  • We added particles for the gravitychange and jumping
  • Simple Game Over screen with a menu
  • Die/Restart Meachnics with a new obstacle a gray spike (Touch --> Dead)
  • Refactoring some Controller Classes

Added new transitions and simpler game over screen

We added following features:

  •  a new scene transition system for some nice looking transitions between the scenes
  • game over sceen is now in the level scene the restart is therefore much faster and smoother
  • refactored the menu system for the transistion and ui elements

Added key and door system

We added following features:

  • Key and Door system with animation and scene transitions
  • The player must find the key to open the door to the next level

The next days we will try to make some levels and try to import our own art assests.

I wonder, when you switch gravity, can you switch gravity while in mid air? that would make really interesting air levels for this game

Yes currently you can change the gravity mid air. 

We are still not sure if the player only change gravity if he is grounded, we must test this out.

I hope we can soon release some alpha gameplay on itch

siiick, but if you can change the gravity mid air, you can just make your character fly, but if you don't want to do that, use Physics2d OverLapCircle and a boolean to help decide if you can switch gravity if you are grounded.

Added our own Artstyle to the game

  • New Tilemaps with our own art
  • New Player-Death Particle Effect

We added a brand new level :D

Following stuff also happened:

  • Refactored Death-Menu
  • Bug Fixing with the Start Menu

We did it, the upload was a few hours before the time limit.

It was a great experience to make our first game in this jam.
