oDaD is planned to be a game/story about life after death, robotics, and a trans man and his remaining family adjusting to a changed world.

Originally I was going to have it be more gritty and dark- the protag would experience microaggressions from his family, and maybe others, and it would also deal with themes of hopelessness. But as a trans man myself, that's not the story I need, and I doubt others need it either.

So instead the conflict comes from within, from other things I have experience with- memory loss, dysphoria, self- doubt. It's still somewhat dark, yes, but it's not as painful, at least in my opinion.

I've only got a couple panels down, so who knows- maybe it will change again. But my end goal is to ultimately have oDaD end in hope- or at least bittersweetly. I'll let you guys know how it goes- and if I don't post updates here, you can find them on my tumblr at ceviamavigames.

i love that you rly interrogated the kind of story that you and ppl like you would want to see. i think it's really difficult sometimes to really untangle the "what SHOULD this story be"--like what would a larger audience want? what would people like me want? and what do /i/ want? so i really love seeing your thought process for the direction that you decided on. i'll be honest i find it very nice seeing trans media with notes of hope.... it's really refreshing to see. i'm excited to see more of this. best of luck with this jam!
