Hello! This is a project I'm going to be using for the game jam! I'd like to design a simple platformer with a bigger focus on the narrative and writing work of it! This should be a simple introductory hook into the project and I hope to expand on it soon enough!

The specs for this game should simply include

  • Support for player inputs that change directionals for the character:
    • A jump directional
    • A left and right directional
    • An up and down directional
    • And diagonal directionals
  • A simple color palette and simple level design, this spec will hopefully change with priority later
  • A simple introduction of accessibility options done as the highest priority for players
  • Support for Windows only, this will hopefully change in the future once the scope is finalized
  • Simple character design, making sure the scope of art direction remains as minimal as possible (As I kind of suck at making art assets)
  • Very very simple music engineering and musical implementation (Should be the most stressful part of the process ;b)
  • Non-minimal focus on writing and fleshing out the narrative/story of the project (As this is the only thing I feel confident with!!)

This should help keep the scope in mind when I’m dealing with the stress of making a game for the first time! But I’d also like to talk about the name of the game and the characters I’d like to introduce!!!

But before so, CWs must be noted: Themes of familial abuse and abuse in general are present in this work. Although it's present only in a linked pastebin, please take caution in reading further this project devlog!!

Yessi is a lady coming from the northern part of her world, she finds it hard to adequately change as the weather around her changes, as unforeseen happenings with her family move her towards the South. She finds herself in a wretched city, wrangling terrain and dilapidated sky scrapers.

She dons a fur coat that she barely doffs, it’s a pristine blue, with a crisp purple leggings and mild turquoise heavy duty boots. Her outfit slows her down more than helps her, but she proudly presents it for style, pizazz and love!!

This paste includes the CW part of the text

Thank you for reading my project's first devlog <33! I hope I can finally make the project I hoped of making for a while now!!!!!!

I sadly will have to stop the project from here for now, as I don't think I'll have anything to show for with it, sadly my exams were too much for me unexpectadly and I had to focus on them! Thank you to whoever read my project devlog post still and I hope the jam went nicely for the rest!!!!
