It's Picross with some Visual Novel, and I'm not really a fan of the latter genre, but it's interesting here. It's just an assumption on my part, but it seems like the developer came up with an interesting magic system, and rather than implement it in some hacky RPG Maker byproduct, as most (probably myself included) would, it wound up as context for this, and that's a really creative place to put it. The gameplay is picross, and I love picross; 'nuff said. The art uses a limited palette to give this kind of a unique vibe with appropriate warmth, and I LOVE the music chosen for the puzzles; I could listen to that for hours.
