I love H.P. Lovecraft stories, and have been reading them since I was in high school. Movies based on his work have never really hit the mark, with very few exceptions, but I have found that the gaming community seems to have a better grasp of the concepts he conveyed in his writings.
Sea Salt turns the tables on the Lovecraft genre, by putting you in the role of Dagon, father of the Deep Ones. Instead of cowering with fear and madness in the face of cosmic horrors, you get to hunt down and tear apart your pesky human worshipers with merciless zeal.
While I cannot predict the long term effects on one's state of mind, I can say the game is extremely well made, and fun to play!
