I think this is an interesting idea, and I really like that it is very finite - the character is there for one day, but it could turn into a day they'll never forget... Normally I'm much more of a fan of player agency and letting them figure out What Is Going On but I think the more I the rails approach to the story and its climax really works here, but still very open ended after the final encounter... overall well done!
