Quite a good game, it is quite easy until around level 16, where it crashes for me pretty consistently, I am not sure if it is simply the final level in this preliminary version, but I cannot get past it. Apart from that the game appears tidy, smooth and free of bugs. It's pretty forgiving apart from the timing required to jump over enemies, which is somewhat strict but not impossible by any means. At least you can also jump while shimmering across the horizontal ropes, which is usually not a feature in these kinds of games. Many have no jump whatsoever, but this one does in all situations, which is quite nice. The enemies are not particularily aggressive, which helps with the forgiving nature as well.
The music sounds like some of those Chinese bootleg NES games, which is somehow cute, as is the game in general. Sound effects are rather typical, probably bfxr or the like, but that is just a guess. They are perfectly functional for informing the player of the various cues intended, if no marvel of sound design.
The graphics seem like a bit of a step up from previous withthelove games. I'm surprised that Frankenstein's monster is green like an orc, but I'm not sure what his real skin colour is actually meant to be in the first place. When he appears as a boss in Castlevania games its usually a whitish pale blue, but of course the one is not more correct than the other, and I think on the old movie poster he is actually green, even if the movie itself was in black and white.
