Description
This was really fun to make - it switches tempo from 124 BPM to 186 halfway through, changing from a techno to drum and bass feel. To do this seamlessly I used metric modulation, a concept in music that deals with modulating to a new tempo in a similar way that you would with modulating to a key. This is the first time I've ever used this technique so it was really interesting to play with!

I like the switch from 12/8 to 4/4. You did a great job with that transition. I like how the pulse stays the same and you use the bass to indicate that a switch in the groove is coming before you throw in the new drum beat. Your meter changes add energy to the track that I think work well for battle music. I think these jams are a great time to try out new techniques. Keep up the great work!

I like the vibe you get from this, its an interesting take on the JRPG battle music genre. I think the melodic elements need to be a lot louder - that kick beat drowns everything else out a bit, which is a shame as theres some good stuff going on.

Thanks! Yeah, composition is definitely where my skills are - not so much with production/mixing/mastering. Good feedback though, I'll have a play around with it!

I liked this a lot! Whatever that TSSHH sound is in the background is, it immediately gave me PS1 Final Fantasy flashbacks :D Something about the melodies had a very Final Fantasy feel to them too, which helped get that vibe across even though the instrumentation was a bit more synthy.

Only critique is that I kinda wish the fast bit was a little longer, cause the transition into that was really cool :)

Thanks for the comment! Yeah, to be fair the faster bit is quite short compared to the slow part - I was running out of time and had to draw a line under it how it was, haha
