I played for as long as my computer could handle, but I never really understood what to do. There are several points that I can touch for future improvement :
First of all, the aesthetic is good, though you don't need such high quality lighting. Just make it believable, instead of going completely overkill and causing lesser computers like mine to run at 15 fps.
Second, it would be great if you had a main menu. This will allow separation from when the players load the program and play the game, overall increasing immersion.
Third (and this could be a LARGE improvement), try adding control hints if you update it. It was very confusing having to press every key on the keyboard the first time...and then sometimes it's LMB instead of the F key to interact. Even if you don't do this, I would suggest changing interact to E, as F is usually Flashlight in horror games.
I unfortunately didn't get to the monster or anything. :/
Awesome game ! The puzzles are fun, the monster is Fu**ing scary ! the clock + radio song puzzle was very clever. I wish I could do something to avoid or defend against the monster (maybe by taking a photo of him ?) But overall one of the best submission ! Great jobs guys :)
Thanks for the kind words! Yeah, we had the idea to include special film cartridges you could collect that would stun the monster, but we didn't have enough time to include that. We'll add it with our demo release in the next month or two!
Excellent. I enjoyed the puzzles and the fact that the game is forgiving when you get caught but I got stuck at one point and would love a hint as to what to do next but don't want you to pose spoilers!
Howdy, glad you're enjoying the game! Since I am trying to improve the puzzle design as best as I can, it would be great to hear where you got stuck and see what hints could help. You can DM me on Discord @travakin8919 to avoid spoilers here if you'd like!
Thanks for the kind words! How far were you able to go? We will be spending the next month making some of the puzzles more intuitive, along with some other quality of life changes, so stay tuned if you're interested for that :)
It's hard to give a review for this game, as it was very laggy and I could barely play it. I also had a very hard time figuring out what to do and where to go and the textures kept meshing together making it hard to see, that coupled with the lighting being pretty iffy made it even more difficult. I don't know if these were just issues with my computer, but I have never had a game run this way before.
What are your PC specs? Are there any apps that might be interfering?
Core i5 and 12 gb of ram, and there weren't any other apps running. I cleared off background applications too.
What's your GPU? I'm thinking this is probably an optimization problem on my part and this could be helpful to troubleshoot the issue.
Intel(R) Iris (R) Xe Graphics, 6106 mb memory, 128 mb display memory.
Looks like some UE5 features might be difficult to handle on that card. I'll add graphics controls to the build on the next release (when we have a menu lol).
