This is a cool game with a cool story, but I have some critiques:

- The movement is painfully slow since you can only move one square at a time. Combine that with slow dialogue, and the game feels extremely tedious

- Using pixel art is great, but different assets have different pixel sizes and look incoherent

- Never expect your player to remember something on their own. When the old man gave those instructions, I remembered everything up to playing the piano notes, but then I forgot where the gate was. And I did not want to search for the gate since movement was so slow.


Besides those critiques though, it's cool!

Hello Dragonsproutling. First, thank you for your comments and sorry for the late response.

To develop the game I took inspiration from another jam with theme of games for blind people, especially the following game:

My goal was to make a game that is mainly accessible to people with that disability, for that reason I put a lot of emphasis on sounds, adding a large amount of environmental sounds, responsive sounds, making all the conversations between characters spoken and even a character says what the controls are. In addition, there are certain issues such as the case that you mention about the movement, which is linear and straight but was made this way to facilitate movement for those who are not able to see the screen. I probably should have thought of a solution so that all people regardless of their condition have the same game experience, similar to what happens with the game I mentioned above.

About the pixel art, I'm not a good artist. Some things I was able to draw on my own but for many others I had to resort to free-use assets.

Regarding what you say about the old man's instructions, they are many and very long, which is why I added the "help" button. Pressing the "C" key opens a menu which tells you the current objective in text and audio. That's why the robot at the end of the conversation say that he saved the instructions in his systems. Here is how it looks like:


Maybe when we have to go for the gasoline is not the "maze" experience I wanted. it could be better.
