  • Nice game! It doesn't innovate on the theme that much but the game is enjoyable and has a lot of potential to build upon. Nice job!

Did you include your Game Design Document in your downloadable files?
Yes

Tell us about your game!
Your working as a game developer on the Pirate Software Game Jam. Except by mistake you drop and spill the literal jar of jam, which ended up being a corrosive Ooze. You'll have to use items nearby to combat and slow the spread of the ooze for five minutes until help can arrive.

Ooze spreads constantly, when the ooze touches objects in the game things happen... Some items spawn slimes that will chase you if you get too close like the trash can and chair. Other items will explode dealing damage to anything they hit like the computer and cleaner spray. Plants will slow the ooze's spread down for a period of time .

You can add items to your inventory with a right click, then you can scroll through those inventory slots with the mouse wheel or just by left clicking on an inventory slot.
Left clicking in the game while carrying an item in your inventory will throw the item.

Carrying items will affect the players movement speed to simulate weight. Additonally, objects can be thrown differing distances based on the objects weight.

The player will need to survive for 5 minutes and a timer can be seen to track that in the top right of the game.

Extra Notes
We began this project on day one of the jam. None of us had any experience making games before. Our programmers had experience coding before but never on games. We decided to try GameMaker as our engine and had to learn everything every step of the way, and we learned a TON. Thanks for putting this game jam together and we cannot wait for the next one.

The idea of surviving the ooze is pretty cool. I had to right-click everything to know what was throwable, so that is something they could change. I liked that some items got morphed into ooze as well. It involved a bit of the lore but also made some sense since it was organic matter. At some point, the game just started dropping frames crazy, probably something to do with how the ooze was programmed. Good work!
