  • So honestly I can't figure out how your game mechanics work, like somethimes the block is there but sometimes its not. I would add a guided tutorial if I were you to explain your mechanics because it looks very fun but I just cant figure it out lol. Very clever premise though!

R/GB is a 2D platformer where you cast a shadow on the ground based on the lighting direction. This shadow acts a bit like a clone and can be hurt by the spikes just as much as the player. Therefore, the player has to consider the shadow’s position in addition to its own.
Spikes kill the player either by touching it directly or the player if the touching body is the same colour as the spike. The player can switch between red and cyan. The shadow is always the opposite colour of the player (p.ex.: player is red → shadow is cyan). This means the player has to consider colour in addition of position, giving an extra level of depth to the problem-solving part of platforming.

The player can jump, double jump, wall jump, and dash. The game is best played with a controller.

Extra Notes
This game is my first game jam submission and my first game in Godot. My goal in making it was to learn the engine, player controls, and basic game necessities like UI. So the art and audio were completely ignored to spend more time learning what I actually wanted to learn during the jam. The game has little if any polish and few levels but you can try to beat your best times if you like the mechanics (on which I did spend some time).

Ideas for a full game:
The player can switch between R, G, and B. (instead of only R and GB).
Movements abilities are tied to a specific colour.
Interactable items: keys, switches, ...
Mirror that reflect light. Multiple lights (and shadows).

Cool game. I struggled with the controls at first but I was on the keyboard and once I got some practice in the game was pretty fun!

It's a nice simple looking game that had me thinking throughout the game. I liked speedrunning it. Having to use the right button (R1) on the controller for dashing was a little uncomfortable.

Glad you liked it!

Ideally I would implement an input setting menu in the game, but I'm curious what button you would prefer using for dashing?

The right trigger (R2) would feel more comfortable for me. Having two fingers close to each other on the Y and RB button felt a bit cramped.
