  • The puzzles and cryptography is fun, however I believe there are spelling mistakes in at least the first puzzle as well as the fact that I'm not sure whether it fits within the game jam theme of Shadows and Alchemy.

Trithemius is a 2D cryptographic puzzle game, made in Godot, for the PC. The player deciphers increasingly complex and difficult coded messages based on real cryptographic methods of the 15th century from texts such as Steganographia and De componendis cifris. Dozens of methods and hundreds of cipher keys survive from the period, so there is no shortage of inspiration or historical authenticity to work with. This game happens against the narrative backdrop of the Italian Wars (1494-1559). There are a few buttons and a couple of cipher wheels rotated with the arrow keys.

Extra Notes
Never coded or used Godot before, this is hacked together in 5 days with hope and 'if' statements between job interviews. Have mercy!

I'm really excited for this because I love historical ciphers. Let's get steganographic up in here. And the design is thoughtful as well, with the way the cipher visualizations are set up. Seems like that probably took some effort!

I got a browser-crashing bug (mac chrome) when I tried to input my first cipher (I successfully turned the wheel to what I thought would match with "Simon", but when I tried to continue it crashed in a have-to-close-all-the-tabs-I've-been-hoarding-for-a-year-like-a-dragon-with-object-permanence way) . 

I'm also new to Godot, and, yeah,  sometimes the simple things kill ya even though the hard things can be easy sometimes. I hope you find a moment to smooth this thing out because I'd love to play it!
