  • While the game is quite short with only three levels, I can definitely see a solid foundation to build upon. The core mechanics work well, and with some refinements and additions, this could evolve into a more engaging experience. The theme wasn’t strongly conveyed in-game, but if the drones mentioned in the GDD were better represented through graphical assets or even a short in-game dialogue, it would greatly enhance the overall cohesion of the concept. The 8-bit music was fantastic and complemented the game’s atmosphere well. The movement of the drones felt fluid and was well-implemented, making for a smooth gameplay experience. However, one area for improvement would be addressing the ability to spam-click to fire at an extremely fast rate. Adding a cooldown or limiting the fire rate would help balance the challenge. Additionally, the bouncing bullets, which could also hurt the player, felt a bit too punishing, especially given their small size, which made them difficult to track. Slight adjustments to this mechanic could make the difficulty feel fairer. Your GDD is well-organized, and the inclusion of images provided a clearer understanding of your vision and future plans for the game. Overall, this was a solid submission with a strong core idea. I’m excited to see how you develop it further and what new mechanics or levels you might introduce in the future! Keep up the great work!

Summarise your game!
It is a top down shooter. The player attempts to defeat an enemy NPC over 3 levels by shooting, dodging, and picking-up a power-up. Enemy NPC uses different paths picked at random each time to add variety. Projectiles ricochet and do damage indiscriminately. Victory goes to last drone standing. Controls use WASD or arrow keys to move, mouse controlled crosshairs orient player, and left mouse button shoots.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
Player and Enemy sprites are intended to be drones specifically build to battle each other in an arena. Inspiration came from watching Battle Bots.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
