  • I had a great time trying to beat my high score while playing this game. The controls were extremely simple yet allowed for a surprisingly high skill ceiling. Some attempts had me soaring smoothly across the field, while in others, I found myself suddenly back at the start due to an unexpected rebound. The animations are well done, and while the interface is simplistic, it remains functional and effective. The music complements the game's lighthearted, energetic atmosphere well. The GDD is exceptionally well-documented, making it easy to follow the game's development from its earliest stages to the current build. One potential improvement could be adding ways to replenish sword time—perhaps through kill streaks or collectible items. A shop system for upgrading the sword could also add more depth, along with new enemy types like flying or moving opponents to diversify gameplay. Overall, I had a lot of fun playing the game—though I might need to buy a new mouse wheel now! I’m excited to see how it evolves.

Summarise your game!
Swingy Swordy is a physics-driven action game where you are the weapon! Play as Swordy, Champion of the Thousand Bounces a sentient sword, hurled down a treacherous hill to defend the last bastion against endless hordes of invaders. With each spin, and bounce, unleash chaos and destruction to protect the sacred cliffside sanctuary.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
In "Swingy Swordy," you are the weapon—a sentient sword imbued with the power of past defenders. With no wielder to guide you, your mission is to defend a sacred sanctuary by rolling, bouncing, and slashing through endless waves of invading enemies. You directly influence your environment by cutting through foes and obstacles, embodying the theme in both narrative and gameplay.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
The game uses a simple control scheme: just the mouse scroll wheel! I am still figuring this stuff out, so things might be a bit borked or buggy here and there. Your feedback, bug reports, and suggestions would be super helpful. Thanks for giving "Swingy Swordy" a try! 🗡️

I liked the controls, idk if I've ever spun my scroll wheel so much in a game!

Thank you so much for trying out the game, Kebb! It means a lot to hear you enjoyed the controls—I never thought a scroll wheel could get such a workout! Your feedback keeps me motivated to keep improving the game. Thanks again!
