Starship Hypernova's itch.io pageJudge feedback
Judge feedback is anonymous.
- The theme was interpreted well with the player being a ship that has/is a weapon. Enjoyed the feel of the game overall. Had an old school vibe to it and the bright lines yet black world made for a visually appealing experience. The navigation of the ship felt clunky. I struggled to get the listed controls to work. I could move left and right but there didn't seem to be a "roll" as described here. It was difficult to understand if I was hitting something correctly. Good audio design and music. They complimented the game and the player's experience was more enjoyable because of them. Keep working on this. I can tell you put a lot of work into this. Thank you for your submission. GG!

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes
Summarise your game!
Overall goal was to make a game that mixes fun arcadey gameplay of a rails shooter like Star Fox with the replayability of something like Binding of Isaac.
Controls:
WASD - Move
LMB - Shoot
E - Inventory
Shift + A - Left roll
Shift + D - Right roll
Note: For best experience play in full screen by pressing the button at the bottom right of the game!
Please explain how your game fits the theme:
Gameplay focuses around destroying enemies and upgrading your ship to become a more powerful destructive weapon.
Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
Any interesting weapons/upgrades you would like to see? I had a massive list of ones I wanted to add but simply ran out of time

Seems like procedurally generated levels? Really nice job! I would lower the cost of upgrades since in a game jam a lot of people won't play long enough to grind out an upgrade. Good job!
So I liked the core concept. I enjoyed dodging and weaving around bullets while trying to get a shots off at enemies. Vivid-outlined-polygon art style is cool, and music complements it well.
For improvements, two things that I think would help alot is:
I'd also suggest improving the UI - its very basic, and the bullets, which don't quite fit with the rest of the art.
Cool game, it has lots of potential. Good job!
Hey man, you did a pretty good job! I wasn't sure what the coins did, or how the player is a weapon, but the music and artstyle are nice!
Nice game! I'd recommend making it a bit faster and making the shots feel juicer
