  • Misinformation Nation Creation was a good basis for future developments for a few reasons. Primarily, the movement scheme was easy to grasp (single point of rotation) and attacks were similar to the projectiles used in top-down tower artillery defense games. I felt the theme and subject matter of the game fit well, albeit with a bit of a stretch needed. Supporting storyline, an organization to consider yourself a part of, or high-level goals which the player can assist by succeeding would all be positive adds to the current build. Sound effects were good, although a little unbalanced with the lack of musical scoring. Gameplay was difficult after 3 or 4 contacts with a projectile, as it would severely increase the range a projectile could hit you from, well beyond the drawn player area. Thank you very much for this submission to Pirate Software Game Jam 16.

Yes

Summarise your game!
It's like Asteroids (1979) arcade game, but instead of shooting down space rocks, the player shoots down misinformation in order to protect their bubble of truth. It's using as simple controls as there were back when Asteroids was a thing. Inspiration for the game came from real life - the situation that we have on social networks.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
The meaning of "You are the weapon" in this game is that you shoot down the misinformation spread on social networks by responding to them. You can do that until you become overwhelmed by the misinformation. How long you can last is your high score.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
I works in web browser using keyboard, gamepad, mouse or touch. Just make sure you click on the game screen, Unity doesn't seem to run when the iframe is not in focus.

Interesting adaptation of a classic game and theme and including a theme of current events.
