It is a bit tricky to figure out the controls, but I had fun.
Sometime when I respawn it spawns me mid air over the gap beside spawn.

- Axel, The Axe! was an interesting entry. It felt Foddian, or something like Jump Knight. I quite liked the art style and the color palette chosen. Scenery contained a lot of depth through stacking layers of textures and terrain and music felt correct for the composition. Controls were very sensitive and the axe throw animation introduced some small variety for jump controls, which felt very hectic at times. I enjoyed the community lore spin on this game jam's theme and felt others might as well. This game feels like it would appeal to a wide casual audience. Thank you for this submission to Pirate Software Game Jam 16.

Summarise your game!
Mechanics: Movement side to side as human, and space or mouse click to jump transforming into a spinning axe.
The story is that a hunger lumberjack stop his morning job to eat and a spirit of the forest find him and cursed him in name of all trees he chop in the woods. Now, he's traped into a sentient forest and need to challenge a maze to escape, and finally get your lunch!
Please explain how your game fits the theme:
You play as a man who shapes himself into an axe, you are the weapon, literally. The catch is, not all the time you need to be the weapon, and don't need to use the axe to hit enemies.
You are the weapon, and you are using this to escape!
My inspiration for this idea was the spinning axe or hammer, which pass through the screen when someone makes a donation for your channel on twitch. Just a fun fact, and thank you for the idea.
Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
Nothing special. Just try to have some fun, for a few minutes! That will be awesome! Thanks for your time, and a hug from Brazil!
