- Hello Pirate Jammer, Thank you for the submission. Starting with my experience playing the game. Old School JRPG / FF games are fun and this is the same. Everything I got to was working and I liked the art design animations. The game has a very retro feel. The sound design was good and the background music was pleasant. Getting some more custom elements would make it stand out alot more. Finally, the GDD you made was a little sparse, if you got some more thoughts and some nice formatting in there, maybe some concept diagrams, you might be able to build up an even cooler game in the long run. Even if those extra things would have never made it into the prototype, knowing what you wanted to do would have been cool. Thanks again!
- The game plays well in the browser. The GDD is well written and acts as a great base for the games development. The combat system is a basic RPG maker system which works well, the analyze function is a nice addition so players can learn and plan out. The round robin system is nice and reminds of games like Baldur's Gate 3. The low numbers are nice, I like them more than the big numbers. Try to give the player some mana back in certain situations, like after beating a certain amount of enemies or such. The game could profit a bit more from more complex weapon combos, since you don't have any other armor, so the weapons are your go to building machinery for complexity in the game. Overall a nice prototype and keep it up, I enjoyed playing it and looking forward to see more of it.

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes
Summarise your game!
The game has a simple premise, with your character entering a dungeon to look for a saviour called the Gunblade.
The dungeon is a rogue-lite, in which you obtain items, party members and weapons and use them to fight enemies in turn-based combat, earning points which can be spent on permanent upgrades.
The main mechanic of the game is that every character has a reciprocal weapon which they can turn into or out of. These give unique passive effects which can combo with other characters' abilities in interesting ways. Additionally, enemies can also equip weapons producing a wider range of threats for the player to overcome.
Controls:
Arrow keys - Move
Z - Interact/Confirm
X - Menu/Cancel
Shift - Run
Please explain how your game fits the theme:
All the characters in the game can swap between playable 'units' and equippable weapons. Ergo, they are the weapons
Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
Do you like the combat system, particularly it using low numbers, and being able to see enemy stats & weapon equips?
Also how much do you like the weapon combos and should they be more complex?

I love this game! I got to the General M, General F boss fight and died. The fountain was such a cool take to swap out party members and equipment. Would love to see some room variations and maybe some option enemies in rooms that you can kill to gain more exp or even obtain weapon drops from them.
Thank you for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I think I'll definitely work on it some more after the game jam is fully over with some more rooms types and weapons. I also like that idea for optional enemies, I'll have to figure out what kind of rewards would fit best since I want to limit levelling up to a boss reward only.
