  • Do I have arms? I'm not sure. I'd like to thing I have arms. But I don't think I saw any arms. Other people had arms. Sorry, don't mean to *strong arm* you over the lack of arms. The game was fun enough. The sound design was nice. I really like that the game slowed down when you were hit. Jumping was a bit of a confusing mechanic. I know you threw us right into battle, but for mechanics like that, it's nice to force the player to learn the mechanic before being in bullet hell. Maybe if there was less of a time constraint on the game submission time, sure. The movement was cool. Enemies were cool. And the game was fun enough. Great job on your game!

Yes!

Summarise your game!
Grey Splatter is a game in which you take control of a bioweapon in the form of a parasite. This parasite can infest other creatures, turning them into weapons of the parasite's own making. It features twin-stick shooter gameplay similar to that of Nuclear Throne or Enter the Gungeon. Every enemy type (of which there are 5) has a unique attack associated with them that the player can utilize when they've infested them. On top of that, there are two parasite trait types, both with their own unique "On Infest" and "On Death" effects. On Infest effects are triggered anytime you infest and enemy, and On Death effects are triggered anytime you eject from an enemy after their health has gone below the On Death threshold. To infest an enemy, you have to shoot yourself off of the enemy you're currently infesting and land on another enemy. If you miss, the parasite drops to the ground, and you're helpless for a short cooldown before you can attempt to jump again.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
In Grey Splatter, you play as a parasite that has been designed as a bioweapon. That alone would fit the theme perfectly, but we decided to take it a step further by making the parasite turn the bodies of its enemies into weapons of its own making. Double layered interpretation!

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
Feedback on enemy design surrounding their attacks and behavior and how it could mesh better with all the other enemies around them and the level generation parameters we've set would be invaluable. Thank you!

You were right, it is similar concept to my game! My muscle memory keeps right clicking (to reload weapon) and gets me killed by leaving body hehe.
