  • AMAZING ART, AMAZINGLY MADE. Very fun execution, albeit on a very basic extrapolation of the theme. Love the music, its absolutely lovely. All I wanted was for it to be longer, and to have a level select so I could grind the times! Oh, and the timer seems tied to fps, so I was just dividing it by 4 to judge my times :P That being said. Oh god, the butt amogus twirl. Oh god, why. Its on my screen as I type this. IM SCARED. Oh, and I found a bug. When you leave the corpse of a big creature, if you are right next to a wall or out of bounds, you get stuck in that block.

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes

Summarise your game!
Alien Park is a lighthearted hack 'n' slash game set on an alien planet, where you play as a parasite that can take control of other creatures’ bodies. All you know is you must kill everything you set your eyes on.

CONTROLS
Movement: WASD or Left Stick
Aim with mouse or RIght Stick,
Attack: Left Click or Right Trigger
Dash: Space or Right Face Button
Take Over Enemy: Right Click or Left Trigger

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
In Alien Park you play as a small invasive parasite designed to destroy. Instead of wielding traditional weapons, you directly invade and manipulate enemy bodies. Each enemy host is temporary, reinforcing the idea again that the parasite itself is the true weapon.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
how many amogus can you spot?

Super polished game. I love how cute it is with the contrast of how violent some of the deaths are. I had previously just played Puff Tuff, so to see more smoking character was pretty funny. Don't smoke!

Great game, I loved it.

It feels so polished! Cute, fun, and also I love the concept of riding a new enemy and just jump from one to the other. I had fun! Great work!

yippee good game

Submitted(+1)

Very smooth. Nice art as well - overall a very polished feel

Would wish there were some indicators to where enemies were

Submitted(+1)

A wonderfully made game, the art is excellent and gameplay is incredibly smooth. Great job!

Great idea and execution! The art style is nice. The alien is cute. The game is very fun to play. GJ!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I tried your game a couple days ago too, a hilarious concept.

Just had a look at your itch page. Is this your first game?

Double respect 💪

Developer

Thank you so much! Not my first game, just first game jam on Itch :)
And to answer your previous question, you should be able to aim with mouse, or if you're using a controller, then the right stick? Maybe there's a bug :\

Submitted

Nah, right stick doesn't work for me. I'm on Macos using PS5 gamepad

Developer

just checking that you pressed "enable controller" at the main menu? we did the testing for it with a ps4 controller on windows

The game senses the aura emitting from the dev team gathered in one post.

Yes, pressing that button did help! A bit weird though. I want to clarify that controller worked without that button the first time.  But I needed to press it specifically to make aiming work

Developer

Absolutely my fault haha. I coded aiming slightly differently for controller and I didn't have time to implement something cleaner. Should have made it more obvious sorry!

This was brutal.

Clever game design! I love its strategic nature. Killing knocked out creatures make you play more accurate, which is also cool. Can't spam the hit button ^^'

What I didn't enjoy a lot is the rigid attack direction. Why not make it simply hit the direction you move? Or is it a bug?

Other than that I loved this game, great job!

Game was great. The sassy, juicy,  green butt twerking, was perfect.

Developer(+1)

i did the twerk art completely for fun and i didn't think it'd be put on the itch page but here we are with full public octotwerking motion for all to see. thank u for being a fan of it :3

Great job! The movement, animations, and sound design on the player are so satisfying and fluid. Combat is perhaps a bit difficult when fighting groups of enemies who are constantly barraging attacks at you. But I love the aesthetics, concept and charm of this game. Good work!

Very fun to play and graphics is very good. When I face the pink rotating enemy, it kills me without clear reason why.

Developer

Thank you!
You probably have the same bug as me. Godot 4 Web exports are bugged for certain AMD Graphics Cards, doesn't render particle effects. Pink Flower enemy creates particle effects around her, which is probably why you were seemingly dying to nothing.

You guys did an awesome job!

- The idea of unleashing the Alien as the weapon fits the theme.
- The tutorial was a nice-to have and didn't overstay it's welcome.
- The design of the main character, the monsters, and environment were unique.
- The kirby-like mechanic of taking over the monsters was implemented really well.
- The player movement felt fluid and responsive.
- The usage of the Mario 64 cannon launch sample sound in the background music was an awesome easter egg.

- I really liked taking over the monsters, but wished you could control them for just a little while longer before they ran out of energy.
- I felt a bit lost at times when navigating around the level as a lot of the areas started to look similar.
- A few of the intro sound effects were a bit harsh on the ears.

Really cute art style, though the bright colors made it hard to find my cursor at times.

Good mixture of difficulties between levels.

Overall really great job for a project made in two weeks!

Very nice game with cute aesthetic. I played with a controller, managed A+ scores almost each round

Feels really good
Cute art style
Awesome idea
Great job guys :)

Awesome game! The character movement feels great, and controlling each enemy beyond that is absolutely flawless.

I had a blast playing this! Great art, kudos on character designs and color choices :) Also, great job in designing varied attack patterns! The tall pink alien is OP and my absolute favorite.

Best screenshot i've seen so far! Really beutiful game and fun to play. Thank you.

Submitted(+2)

Great art. I like seeing similar ideas to my own implemented in a slightly different way.

Cute game! combat is fun if a bit difficult to get a grasp, maybe the tutorial could have included more opportunities to control the other aliens. Love the different enemies! very creative.
