  • Idiot Wielder is a game where you control the weapon to protect the wielder, changing forms between melee, ranged, and shield to defeat the enemies. Unfortunately, it seems the controls were not implemented in the game, so it ended up just being a dude running into stuff and reaching the end state of the game. With that in mind, i'll rate primarily on the GDD and what is possible to experience. One of the primary aspects of a good GDD is laying out the vision for the game so the designers can easily refer back to it and adjust as necessary, it's not just a document thats finished at the end as the description of the game but for you to keep things sorted. With that in mind, the GDD could you some work. I would recommend using an online template for the next jam as that will help you make sure some important things like inspirations, timelines, and systems beyond just mechanics are clearly called out and available to you. What is there, however, is great. You've got a good list of mechanics clearly described, and while they don't work in the game at the moment, the intent makes sense for your design. Graphically, the game looked okay with enemies and the player character clearly deliniated. I'm not sure why the score was low definition compared to the rest of the graphics, it seemed very fuzy. Overall, good concept and what was in the game was fun to look at, but getting the core systems working should take priority.

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes

Summarise your game!
An idiot who has no fighting experience at all rushes into battle with a sentient sword. As the sentient sword, you have to defeat as many monsters as you can... while also making sure that the idiot wielding you doesn't die while he runs around making stupid decisions. You can switch between your shield form, sword form, and bow form. Slashing as a sword can take care of enemies close to you in a pinch. Shooting an arrow as a bow can take care of enemies that are further away. Bumping enemies back as a shield can protect the idiot wielder, as well as set you up nicely for a combo (defeating multiple enemies in a single slash or arrow awards bonus points!).

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
The person wielding the weapon cannot be controlled, he moves on his own. You are the weapon itself, forced to stay with your idiot wielder as he moves about.

I actually really love this. This has a very unique idea that I feel, given some good assets, will be a really simple but fun game! I did have to click once in the window to make it work, but after that it was responsive and easy to understand- well, once i pressed the same button again to actually activate my weapons. Then I felt a little stupid lol for not figuring out, but you might want to add that to your manual anyway. Honestly, really clean mechanics wise. Good job, and I'll try to give you a shout out so your game isn't ignored!
