  • Snowthrow is an interesting little trajectory physics game where you throw parts of yourself at enemies to progress through levels. The theme interpretation is amazing; adding an "hp" bar to add a time/throw count constraint to the level had me giggling. The mechanics of the game were smooth, though judging accuracy for shots was sometimes a bit difficult. Having a last shot mechanic might be a good include in the game as I ended getting stuck on the summoner enemy since I couldn't hit the penguin and all the summons due to missed shots. Maybe having the light throw leave snowflakes in the air so big throws can follow along? Enemy art style and mechanics were great with the themed enemies of icecubes, penguins, and goblins feeling very different in design. Sound FX was A+, especially on whiffing shots. I heard that sound alot ;-) GDD was well designed with its vision clearly implemented in the game. I would recommend breaking out the timeline and using it as a running list of tasks completed as opposed to bulking them up by week. This gives you enough granularity to see what still needs doing without being overly burdensome from a documentation point of view. Overall, great little game, good job!

The art style for this game is great, and I really appreciate the in game tutorial. That is a HUGE plus for a jam game. One change you could make to the game post jam is to make it so there is more ability for the player to improve. Right now it feels a bit "random" if I hit an enemy that is far away. That makes it feel outside of my control. Some things that could change that are a bigger FOV so that the player can aim their shots (or a map so you can see enemy locations). Think about games like angry birds, you can always see where the pigs are to aim the birds. Another change could be maybe having more generous snow ammo and upgrades. Overall good job finishing the jam, and I chuckled at the sound effect for the snow ball.
