- Very neat typing game, and using words to squish them was funny. Having the question of change difficulty was a nice touch. And boy were there options! Adding a more nomenclature set of words for younger students/audiences would be a good difficulty addition, some words may feel very off putting when they are not as familiar when using the wide range of dictionary. (I suggest taking a look at type racer for idea!) GDD was a good read, seeing the adapting of the game to fit into the time allotted and having that info was very important and well translated. Both games are good ideas. The music was good, but I do wish there was some additional sounds to the bugs making a squish sound or a ding when a word was completed. Something as simple as a ping and ding here and there can really help define a game. Over all this was very fun to play, it was enjoyable to work through and explore. Sad it wasn't a tower defense but this is just as good in my opinion. Practicing typing games are always a good thing to build and you can learn a lot of player feedback from. Things you may not thing of when working on these sorts of tasks. Plus there are never enough ways to learn how to type and type fast!

Summarise your game!
Controls, Mouse & Keyboard
Typing game where the player uses the keyboard to type letters above bugs to squash them.
Please explain how your game fits the theme:
The player is the weapon in a literal sense. Their skills at the keyboard determine how well they do in game.
Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
The game was originally going to be a tower defense and typing game. Due to the time limit, the tower defense portion was omitted in order to have a more complete project.

Nice one! I'm a touch typer myself and enjot typing games.
Some feedback:
1. It's a bit inconvenient that typed text is shown only at the bottom. I wish I could see it under the bugs word which I'm trying to type. This way I can control what I type better
2. Hit Enter to erase typed letters. If I'm trying to kill a long-word bug and fail I have to spend extra time on erasing what I typed
Upd
Oh, nvm 2. it's actually works this way =D
I agree having a better UI for what the player has typed is a must have. It's easy to overlook the current input and takes focus away from the bug line. I will be implementing a visual and audio indicator when no word match is possible from what the player types. Also, because any word in the line can be worked on at any time, I probably won't put the typed input under the bugs. Besides just the UI improvement, I could allow the player to move that UI element to a location that works better for them.
Your feedback is greatly appreciated, thank you! I hope you enjoyed this prototype version even just a little. 😁

Great to hear!
And I did enjoy it! Played like 5 times. I increased the difficulty (awesome feature btw) and ended somewhat like in round 4 killing an enoooourmosly long line of bugs critically close to finishing line ^^' XD
So glad to hear it! That makes all the work worth it in my opinion. I already have some fixes and updates ready to upload after the judging period. I made a dev log with changes and screenshots of what I have so far. I will be continuing to work on this project after judging. If you would like to get notifications of updates, you can follow or add the project to a collection.

When I'm playing it, I start panicking when the bugs are at the end of the path. That makes me mistype more and its all over lol.

Added to collections!
When I'm close to loosing I'm sort of get the sense of "Well, I'll loose anyway, why stressing about it at this point". Thus I calm myself and my focus raises =D
Awesome! 😁 That's a good outlook on it.
