  • GDD Interesting way to make a GDD; it was the first time I saw a brainstorm taking place instead of the classic inspiration section. Neat to see how the team decided to pick the ideas and execute them. Gameplay The gameplay was very simple; at first I got confused about how to make the potions, but I got the hang of it pretty fast. The limitation on ingredients makes the player mix and match and experiment with new ideas instead of defaulting to the ol' reliable. My aim is pretty bad, though. I got some issues with the timing for the potion toss, but it was more on my side. I had some issues with the options to throw potions and start a new wave overlapping when the first enemy died, even if there are more on the screen. It quickly overwhelmed me. Art Simple art with no animation; it's understandable because of the time constraint. In the future it would be nice to see it more fleshed out, with some simple animations and effects on the enemies and the cauldron, like bubbling. Sound Design The BGM is a short and sweet loop that gives the vibe of a mysterious forest very well. The SFX consists of potion toss and glass breaking, and the enemy being hurt, the latter getting a prompt in every tick of damage, that ended up overlapping often. Many OOFs quickly. Last words Overall a neat idea, a shame that the team had a series of issues and could only work on it for 3 days. But with adversity comes innovation, and congratulations on developing and submitting an MVP in such a short time. With more polish and the implementation of the planned ideas, this can become a great little game.

Make sure you reduce the volume of your music! it is VERY loud. It fits the vibe really well but needs work to sound good. As for the game, the spawn waves overlap as well as the buttons, causing accidental clicks and sometimes the inability to actually make a potion to throw in time.
