  • Without even playing the game, I was super impressed with your GDD and how you documented the thought processes and asset creation; excellent work! I thought this is a really interesting, very different interpretation of the theme. I absolutely love the idea that your controls change as you move to different aids, so the player has to relearn patterns and techniques all over again. Scope creep is a tricky beast, especially when time is tight. It's a shame that you had to scrap your first idea, but well done for submitting something. Unfortunately for me, although the map and the sprite spawned in, nothing else did so I was just moving aimlessly through a maze until the spoon bar (blue lightning?) ran out and I progressed to the next level. Also when I started it says QAOL at the top (crutch controls, reminded be of QWOP, again, really cool mechanic) and "Level 5" which never changed, was this intentional? Overall a really good effort, and I would love to see where this game goes!

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
yes

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
yes

Summarise your game!
riding mobility aids over shit in a maze, except your controls are based on how the mobility aid works physically

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
you run over shit and smash it with your body and aid

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa this took way too long time, hope you appreciate unique fucky controls tho!!!

Uhhh, I'm not sure what to say. There's something here! It's a huge W to just have submitted, so you should be proud of that regardless! I loaded into level 5 which I feel like maybe there's 4 more I didn't get to play lol and there was just nothin really goin on? I wandered the entire maze and there wasn't anything there. The movement mechanics are interesting!

Yep, you're right, lots of things are missing, some of which we made before the deadline but didn't have time to upload, some of which just really needs a lot more time. We way overscoped, but we got something submitted and I am proud, Thank you!! There's meant to be enemies + point collection that would add things happening, your feeling that not much was going on would probably be due to the absence of that :P I'm glad you like the movement mechanics! Those and the sprites is honestly what ate up the vast majority of our time, and what makes us want to keep building on this.

Apologies for how rushed this all is, we definitely learnt a lot about time management!

Movement controls cues in the UI are among the several things missing, as a lot of big stuff we got done on the last day did not make its way into the uploaded and tested .zip file (due to aforementioned time management).

The debug HUD we made is there, you can use it to toggle between movement modes. The movement modes use the following keys:

  • Walking: WASD
  • Crutches: QAOL
  • Rollator: FVJM
  • Manual wheelchair: QAOL
  • Power wheelchair: QWEADZXC

Documentation of how these work is in the GDD, but the goal with a more polished version of the game is for the player to figure it out on their own.
