  • Excalibummer did very well on delivering the MVP, suiting the theme, and making me laugh. In the current build, you can only enter the game when you click the sword in the title, which will stop smooth brains like me from playing sometimes. The art, music, and level design were fantastic for a prototype of this kind. I enjoyed the QWOP-lite feel, and definitely wanted to experiment and see what kinds of mayhem I might be able to get into. The dearly departed knight did look a bit beat to crud, though, and definitely in a freshly dead way. Future developments might include the degradation of the corpse over time as the sword travels further, and perhaps the eventual resurrection of the knight if the sword escapes the dungeon-- leading to an awkward conversation about how the sword 'totally knew that would happen'. Thank you very much for this submission to Pirate Software Game Jam 16.

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes

Summarise your game!
Platformer game, where the player controls a body of an adventurer. With movement inspired by games like Octodad and Manual Samuel I aimed to get the same unfortunate controls. I hope the player will see the controls as the main obstacle of the game.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
You are literally the weapon. Stuck in the hand of a dead adventurer you need to escape from the dungeon you have spent eternity.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?

Loved this! Leg controls were challenging in the right ways. I experienced some clipping on the harder segments, but overall very bug-free. Also enjoyed the random bits of dialogue lol

Cool game! Did you use Godot's Skeleton2D for the player? I was working with that a lot on my game as well.
