What did you update?
Full overhaul of movement system
coyote time, variable jump height, jump buffer, acceleration and deceleration.

Name of updated upload (if downloadable)
Please make sure to download the windows/linux releases and not the gmtk 2024 release as that is the original build for the jam.

That was very dynamic! Nice entry :)

A couple of moments I'd like to give some feedback on:

  • I was not 100% sure what kind of game you want it to be. Should it be a rage platformer? Then the life/gameover system is maybe fine, but then I would wish for more intense sections, as right now there are some parts where you are just running along the tunnel and not that much happens for a while. If it is more of a classical platformer, I think it will be fine without additional punishment and starting from a checkpoint after you fail would be just fine :)
  • Maybe it was just my impression, but I think that the game starts quite harsh :D You are immediately expected to make a careful jump, I would maybe prefer that you had time to have some fun, jump around and get acquainted with the terrain.
  • I liked the idea of changing your size to proceed but in some cases it seemed to be pretty straightforward, maybe some trickier levels that are not very obvious how to deal with would be fun in that case!

I really enjoyed playing this. The difficulty and level design was just right - the choice of character and sounds was good too.

The music could have been a little bit more appropriate, it was quite a cute character so maybe cuter music? idk

I found some small things that would make the game great.

  • A small delay before spring bouncing would have been nice after falling down onto a spring. I found myself getting bounced straight back where I came... a lot!
  • Coyote time would have also been nice! I had a few times where I fell off. Even just 0.5 seconds or a small number of frames would have helped.
  • If you play a game like Mario or Super Meat Boy or any platformer really, you'll find the character has momentum and inertia. It would be worth trying to implement a bit of inertia to make running and movement feel more natural.

Overall, I enjoyed the game and I hope you keep making updates.

You could do all sorts of themes and new abilities which would be really fun!

Good luck and let me know if you ever update, I'd be happy to play again!

Thanks for the feedback. That was what I was testing in this build. I just added those systems with coyote time, but it was set to 0.18, variable jump height. Even acceleration and deceleration on the ground or in the air, will probably need to adjust the speeds.

Happy to play again if you want more feedback once you've made changes :)

Hi, I liked your game it was pretty fun! The idea of switching sizes to advance was enjoyable. I also found it difficult, specially since you die at one touch, but still very fun. I could beat the three levels. I found it interesting that the difficulty gets higher with each level, and that it includes puzzles and exploration.

I think you got the basics, you just need to build up. Some suggestions:
 - Add a boss fight
 - Add some character evolution, a new ability or something like that has to be discovered
 - Add more levels.

Overall it was very fun to play your game. Keep it up!
